The Landmann Barrone fire pit is currently on offer at Wickes

Fire pits have grown in popularity over the last few years and are set to be the must have garden accessory in 2022. Perfect for gathering around after a family barbecue when the temperature dips, or for enjoying a cuppa around in the autumn, fire pits become the centre of a beautiful al fresco lounge area.

Much like how a log fire in the winter makes you feel all warm and cosy, a fire pit can do just the same for your outdoor space - and it doesn’t have to break the bank, either.

Previous fire pits we’ve had include two car wheels soldered together with a hole sawed out, and another made from an old washing machine drum - both of which were extremely effective in burning cardboard, but didn’t quite say ‘curated contemporary garden space’.

Sometimes, investing in a gorgeous but functional bit of kit is the best way to go, and is much more likely to last longer than something you DIY-ed. And having loved our Landmann barbecue, we went for a Landmann fire pit too.

Their best selling fire pit is the Barrone and is a stunning box shaped firebox with a brassy finish. It retails at £229.99, but it’s currently being stocked in Wickes for £191.

The spacious pit is ideal for creating a welcoming glowing fire to be the centre of your evening in the garden with friends and family, with a contemporary crosshatch design suited to any garden space.

Though with little ones and pets around, the pit also has a heavy duty spark guard and long poker included, as well as a weatherproof cover to protect the box when it’s not in use.

The 66cm tapered box is the ideal way to extend summer days into the evening, keeping friends and family toasty while creating a stunning ambiance in the garden.

The design and latticed sides means that it kicks out more heat than regular fire pits, offering plenty of warmth. It also means you don’t have to sit super close to it, either, fitting more people around it.

The Landmann pit can be filled with wood or charcoal and the oxygen flow due to the mesh keeps it burning for longer. Just be careful of positioning it near anything it could potentially damage, such as plastic furniture.

The fire pit comes with a five year warranty and a string of five star reviews, with Amazon and Wickes shoppers praising the kit. Amazon shopper Rich D said: “This fire pit is very well made and works very well. The design gives off good heat distribution and the coppery finish is different to the many dull black products that are on the market. Also very pleased with the cover that comes with it. Easy to assemble. If it ever stops raining this summer.”

While a Wickes customer added: “Spent ages choosing; wanted a fire pit with an enclosed top so as to minimise fire risk. Also has meshed sides so that ashes and sparks are enclosed. Looks lovely as a bonus.”

The Landmann fire pit is going to come in really handy over the Jubilee bank holiday and beyond as we plan to invite friends and family round throughout the summer. You can pick one up for yourself for £191 at Wickes.
