We tell you everything you need to know about Logitech’s very first direct drive wheelbase – the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel.
It’s been a long time coming, but Logitech has finally moved on from gear-based force feedback and fully embraced direct drive technology, thanks to the Logitech G Pro wheelbase.
Officially endorsed by McLaren Formula 1 Team’s Lando Norris, the new wheel was revealed during today’s (21st September 2022) Logi PLAY livestream event. The Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel was officially unveiled alongside the Swiss company’s Logitech G Pro Racing Pedals.
Other sim racing peripherals and hardware were also announced, including Logitech’s collaboration with PlaySeat – the PlaySeat Trophy Logitech G Edition – and the Logitech G Astro A30 Wireless Gaming Headset.
Yes, the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel is Logitech’s first ever Direct Drive wheelbase, replacing the G923 as the company’s flagship steering wheel model.
The Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel can produce as much as 11Nm (newton metres) of torque. This compares to the 8Nm produced by Fanatec’s entry-level direct drive wheel, the CSL DD (with Boost Kit).
Yes, the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel will be compatible with PC (Windows 10), PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, with special standalone PlayStation and Xbox editions (both of which will be PC-compatible).
Using Logitech’s proprietary TRUEFORCE technology, the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel features a detachable wheel rim with a quick release system, including magnetic paddle shifters and two additional analogue clutch paddles. These can be re-mapped as accelerator and brake controls, making the G PRO Racing Wheel Logitech’s most inclusive wheelbase yet.
It is possible to change settings such as force feedback and steering wheel rotation on the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel wheelbase on-the-fly thanks to a central OLED display, with an included desk clamp catering for gamers yet to upgrade to a sim racing cockpit.
Logitech intends to start shipping its Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel by the end of September 2022.
The Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel will retail for £999.99/1099,00€/$999.99.
The Logitech G PRO Racing Pedals were announced at the same time as the Logitech G PRO Racing Wheel, and in another first for the business, ship with a load cell brake pedal by default.
Players can customise the layout of the pedal set using the supplied Allen key by sliding the pedals horizontally across the pedal base and/or adjusting the pedal faceplates to encourage more heel-and-toe shifting.
A set of firmer springs and elastomers are also supplied to help cater to those sim racers who prefer a firmer pedal feel. Potentiometers are no longer used for the clutch and accelerator, with more efficient magnetic hall effect sensors now installed.
The Logitech G PRO Racing Pedals will be compatible with PlayStation, Xbox and PC (Windows 10).
The Logitech G PRO Racing Pedals will begin shipping before the end of September 2022.
The Logitech G PRO Racing Pedals are available to purchase for £349.99/389,00€/$349.99.
