PHOENIX — A woman was hospitalized in Glendale Saturday morning after having difficulty breathing while on a hike, authorities said.

The Glendale Fire Department was dispatched to the area near Thunderbird Conservation Park around 10:25 a.m. for a mountain rescue, according to a press release.

When crews arrived they found a female hiker in her twenties who needed the big wheel to help safely bring her down. It’s described as a rescue basket placed onto an all terrain ‘big’ wheel.

The temperature was 102 degrees at the time of their arrival, fire officials said.

She was assessed and taken to a local emergency room.
