A viral video has emerged where a man is seen getting crushed against a steel gate by an automatic car while trying to fix it. The video comes at a time when there’s polarizing perspectives regarding AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) cars that are gaining popularity since a few years. The recent video once again sparked a debate as to which kind of car is safer – the one with manual gearbox or automatic gearbox.

The viral video was first shared earlier on Twitter by a user with the handle – ‘@ragiing_bull’. “If an automatic vehicle breaks down, never stand in front of the vehicle. Please warn your friends and relatives. Share this message as an example,” he captioned the video.

In the video gone viral, a man can be seen stepping outside a car that was apparently broken down. The man comes to the car’s front and opens its hood. After making some changes, he goes back to the driver’s seat and adjusts something near the steering wheel. As he returns to the hood again, the car somehow accelerates and crushes him against a steel shutter.

The video has since been viewed over seven lakh times. “In all seriousness, one should not touch the car components unless they are qualified to. It’s simply not worth it,” observed a Twitter user.

If you enjoy some good old-fashion debates, go to a bunch of auto-enthusiasts, mention being confused about automatic transmission safer than manual (or vice versa), and watch the sparks start flying. Since time immemorial, there have been debates around the matter of which transmission is safer in cars. While there is no one answer, a video has recently emerged which shows the perils of an automatic car.

The video was first shared on Twitter with a caption that read – “Warning: If an automatic vehicle breaks down, never stand in front of the vehicle. Please warn your friends and relatives. Share this message as an example.”

In the now-gone viral video, a man, appearing to be a mechanic, steps out of a stationary car and opens the hood to inspect something. After a few moments, the man goes back to the driver’s seat and adjusts something near the steering wheel. He once again approaches the hood and this is when things take a turn for worse. Out of nowhere, the stationary car accelerates and slams the man into a steel shutter that was behind him when he was standing near the hood.

Meanwhile, a woman can be seen rushing to somehow lift the steel shutter and free the crushed man. While it’s not reported whether the man survived the incident, given the impact of the car, it’s likely that the man was at the least severely injured.

Following the video going viral, many netizens took to the comments section and shared their own knowledge regarding cars, and their shock at the man’s fate.

“Always leave automatic car in parking gear. He was trying to jump start the car. Ideally automatic car doesnt start if its not in parking gear. Something must be wrong with car ignition system,” a Twitter user opined.

“I’m wondering how? automatic cars wont start if the lever is isn’t in Neutral and also if u put it in drive or reverse mode. Also, even if neutral it wont start unless I hold brake. That’s how my car works,” another user commented.

Other netizens tried to balance the scale and mentioned that the same incident could’ve happened in a car with manual transmission as well.

More of human error than Car being manual or Automatic. Seems like the driver started it without putting it in Nutral and pulling hand break. Hope people will learn from this.

Yes it could happen in manual gear vehicle also, always to put hand brake on

Wrong messaging. It’s not about automatic transmission
