The ride is the largest of its kind in North America, according to Gene Cassidy, fair president.

Going to the Big E for the rides? You won’t want to miss the Sky High Super Wheel.

Located in the North American Midway section of the fair grounds, the ferris wheel is one “you’ll always remember,” the Big wrote on their website.

The ride features a climate-controlled gondola on a new, 150-foot, 36-car super wheel.

“The midway’s new Sky-High Super Wheel is quite a feat of engineering and is the largest of its kind in North America. It’s quite beautiful, especially all lit up in the nighttime, and at 150 feet in the air you can see all the way to Hartford,” said Gene Cassidy, fair president.

The wheel will require seven regular ride tickets. Regular ride tickets are the same tickets used for the other rides. Additionally, there is one VIP gondola which will require 18 regular ride tickets for those interested in a secluded section.

The Big Wheel is a special attraction, the website states, meaning pay-one-price wristbands and express access are not valid for this fair ride. Tickets for rides can be purchased at any Midway ticket booth located in the Midway section of the fair.

On Wednesday, the fair’s Twitter account tweeted that they will be hosting the Big E’s first-ever mystery giveaway.

To win what the fair is calling a “secret grand prize,” patrons of the fair can scan the QR code on their fair ticket for the chance to be the first-ever winner.

The winner of the mystery prize will be publicly announced on Sunday, Oct. 2, the Big E said. Oct. 2 is the last day for the fair for the 2022 year. The fair will kick off opening day on Sept. 16.
