Bikes already adorned with the latest Shimano groupset

Leading bike brands have been quicker than an electronic gear shift to get the new Shimano 105 R7150 Di2 groupset onto their freshest releases.

The electrification of Shimano’s third-tier 105 mechanical groupset has been long in the offing, leaving the brand trailing its rivals.

SRAM’s electronic equivalent of 105, Rival eTap AXS, was released in 2021. Our technical writer Oscar Huckle has compiled a buyer’s guide comparing Shimano 105 R7150 Di2 to SRAM Rival eTap AXS.

Prior to the launch, we’d been calling for Shimano to follow suit – a wireless, 12-speed 105 groupset topped our 2022 Shimano wish list. Whether an updated mechanical version of 105 will follow remains to be seen.

So far, Shimano 105 Di2 has appeared on a variety of bikes, from some brands’ most prestigious models to middle-market options elsewhere.

While you can order many of these bikes now, some brands have told us their bikes with the new groupset won’t be available until 2023.

By contrast, others said they have no plans to spec a bike with Shimano 105 Di2. In the meantime, here are the bikes bedecked with Shimano’s cheapest electronic groupset. We will update this article with further bikes as details arrive.

Ribble will offer Shimano 105 Di2 across a range of its road bikes.

The Ribble Ultra SLR, the brand’s aero road bike, had only previously been released with Dura-Ace or Ultegra groupsets.

The introduction of the Shimano 105 Di2 R150 12-speed groupset on the new Ribble Ultra SLR 105 Di2 produces a true superbike for about £4,500.

The groupset includes the Shimano 105 R700 12-speed 50-34t chainset and Shimano 105 R7100 11-36t cassette.

The drag-reducing characteristics remain by way of the carbon fibre monocoque frame, carbon forks and integrated carbon aero bar and stem.

The aero seatpost holds a Selle Italia Model X Superflow saddle.

The carbon wheelset is the brand’s own Level DB56 Sport shod with 700 x 28c Continental GP5000 tyres.

The Ribble Ultra SL R 105 Di2 is available to order now from £4,499. The Ribble Ultra SL 105 Di2 is £3,899.

The Ribble Endurance SL R Disc 105 Di2 sees Shimano 105-level components feature on the brand’s elite endurance road bike for the first time.

The Shimano 105 Di2 R7100 2×12 Speed Hydraulic Disc groupset comprises the 105 R7100, 2x 12-speed 50-34t crankset and Shimano 105 R7100 Hyperglide+ 11-36t cassette.

The Level DB40 Sport Carbon wheelset is clad with 700 x 28c Continental GP5000 tyres.

The Ribble Endurance SL R Disc is yours for £3,899. The Endurance SL Disc 105 Di2 has the same groupset for £3,499.

The release of the Ribble CGR SL 105 Di2 brings the new Shimano groupset to Ribble’s all-road bike.

For £2,799 on the carbon CGR SL 105 Di2, or £3,099 on the titanium CGR Ti 105 Di2, you get Shimano’s 105 Di2 R7100 2x 12-speed hydraulic disc groupset.

As on Ribble’s other 105 Di2 bikes, the chainset is Shimano’s 2x 12-speed 105 R7100 50-34t paired with a 12-speed 11-36t cassette.

The CGR models share a Mavic Allroad Disc 700c wheelset and Schwalbe G-One Allroad 700x40c tan-wall tyres.

Ridley’s high-end road bike, and Caleb Ewan’s choice for sprint days, is specced with Shimano 105 Di2 from £6,279 / €6,899 / $9,109.

The 50/34t crankset pairs with an 11/34t cassette.

The wheels are tubeless-ready Forza Norte DB with Vittoria Rubino Pro 25mm tyres.

The bike has a Noah Fast integrated carbon stem and handlebar. A Selle Italia XR saddle perches on the Noah Fast Aero seatpost.

Ridley told us all three of its bikes with Shimano 105 Di2 are available to order from the groupset’s launch day.

The Ridley Helium SLX Disc Shimano 105 Di2 is available from £5,189 / €5,699 / $7,529.

The spec includes the same crankset, cassette, tyres and wheels.

But Ridley’s bike for the high mountains has a Deda stem and handlebar combo and Forza Cirrus seatpost.

Described as the brand’s endurance bike, the Ridley Fenix SLiC Disc Shimano 105 Di2 starts at £3,959 / €4,349 / $5,749.

The frameset Lotto Soudal uses for the Classics has the same spec as the Helium SLX Disc.

The Merida Scultura 6000 105 Di2 is one of three bikes the brand says it will kit out with electronic 105.

There will also be a 105 Di2 version of the Merida Scultura Endurance, but the brand did not have images available on launch day.

Merida has not confirmed the bikes’ wider spec, pricing or availability.

Shimano’s latest groupset is also added to the Merida Reacto 6000, the brand’s keenly priced and most aerodynamic road bike.

Fairlight’s steel road bike with Shimano 105 Di2 will be called the Fairlight Strael 3.0 105 Di2.

Bikes will be available from July 2022 and start from £3,499 with FSA SLK finishing kit, Hunt wheels and GP5000 tyres.

The Wilier Garda 105 Di2 starts from €4,100 with a Shimano RS171 wheelset, rising to €4,700 for a Wilier Triestina NDR38 wheelset.

Shimano’s freshest groupset will also be available on the Wilier Zero SL from €4,900 and on the Wilier Cento10 SL from €4,600.

Wilier could not provide international pricing.

The Italian brand told us Shimano 105 Di2 will be an option on four of its road bikes, likely to be on the market later this year or in early 2023.

The Bianchi Infinito CV Disc 105 Di2 will start from £5,000, the Aria Disc 105 Di2 from £3,850, the Infinito XE Disc 105 Di2 from £3,650 and the Sprint Disc 105 Di2 from £3,400.

International pricing and images were not available at the time of writing.
